Over 475 tickets were sold at Adel Memorial Hall for a challenging production that proved to be a huge hit with our audiences.
The play has also been nominated for FIVE awards at the Wharfedale Festival of Theatre 2014 (see image above for details).

Director's Notes
Last year, we sent out a questionnaire to our patrons and one section asked for the type of play preferred. Most replies opted for comedy and many mentioned Sir Alan Ayckbourn by name. We always like feedback from our audiences and so several of his scripts were read before I decided to direct 'If I Were You'.
Premiered in Scarborough in 2006, I find this to be a lively challenging play exploring an ordinary family and the pressures and tensions within a stale marriage. How many times have we heard that men never understand women, and vice versa? So, if you had the opportunity to look through the eyes of your partner, what would you see?
One morning, Mal and Jill wake up in each other's bodies and start to perceive their family in a different light. As usual, Sir Alan deftly deals with a number of serious issues in his own inimitable way and with plenty of humour. For me, this play is far more relevant today than his earlier works and is a return to form after several darker dramas.
I had the pleasure of seeing his latest production, 'Arrivals and Departures', in September and his observations of human nature continue to enthral his audiences (possibly one for Adel in the future!).
Producing a play 'in the round' is always a challenge and I hope we have done all we can to ensure you have an uninterrupted view of the playing area. From an acting point of view, the intimacy of this type of theatre is one of the benefits and we will continue to develop the format in the future.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mike Andrews
